Silicon Valley Alumni Club Meeting Minutes
July 20, 1999

Meeting called to order at 6:37pm

Reading of previous Minutes were waived

Convention Flyers were mailed to 160 Sammies in the Bay Area to promote alumni attendence
Activities were posted on the flyer
Bob Platt handling tickets for the Dodgers game
Octogonian business and amendments issues coming to vote at convention
Alumni club gets 1 free admission to banquest for paying dues
Get your money in for convention

IFC We are no longer in IFC
Aaron Girson sent a letter to University on SAM position on reorganization

Regional Govenor West Coast province was dissolved and is now included in the Pacific province
Berkley chapter having serious money and leadership problems, may wind up on probation - They need a strong Chapter Advisor
They are asking for Alumni help and support naybody interested contact Vince Contreras
USC and UCLA are both scheduled for recolonization

    • Lost $29.00 in the golf Tourneyment-the party that committed and did not show is in violation of Division E article 2 of the Blue book

    • Chapter Update - Aaron Girson wrote to SJSU on displeasure of University's stance on reactivation time period. Received no response.

  1. Spunky to draft scholarship fund
  2. Issues at convention and how Club voted
    • Issue-Amendment to bluebook on requiring good academic standing
      Voted no due to vague language-no definition of good academic standing
    • Issue-Increase initiation dues $15.00 in 1999 and another $15.00 in 2000
      Voted yes 8-0-0
    • Issue-Conclave site to be decided by the Octagon
      Voted no-this will allow for better decision making by the host chapter
    • Issue-Term limits on Council Service
      Voted yes 4-2-2

  2. Motion for alumni club to pay a portion of the BBQ yes 8-0
  3. Bay Meadows opens in September
