Silicon Valley Alumni Club Meeting Minutes
November 20, 2001

Meeting called to Order at 7:50pm by Fra Mike Barko, Prior.

Reading of previous Minutes were waived

Present: Tim Burke, Bob Javinsky, Jeff Zell, Vice Prior: John Paine and Recorder: Siatuu (STU) Lavatai.
Absent:  Jeff Kuch, Exchequer

I. Old Business:

  1. SAMMY Chapters Reestablishing & Expansion Campaign
    1. Sigma Nu (University of Washington)
      1. Beta Delta (Rainer) Jeff Mariano is the Chapter Advisor for nine (9) NEW SAMMY brothers. Rumor from SAMMY Central Command is that Executive Director, Aaron Girson and Regional Governor, Jerry Low travelled to University of Washington to officially initiate and reestablish the chapter.
    2. Stanford University, University of Southern California, and UCLA
      1. Rush efforts at these campuses have been delayed until their Greek Life Administrators receive official communications or contact from SAMMY National Reps.
      2. Prior Barko will send a letter to Aaron Girson concerning National assistance for SAMMY rush on the West Coast.
      3. Recorder Lavatai will check with Fra Keith Barna to check on Updated news about USC (Fra Steve Stone) rush/reestablishing progress.
    3. San Jose State University
      1. Fra Tim Burke will contact Spartan Greek Life Administrators about bringing SAMMY back on campus.
  2. SAMMY Cyber Groups & Database data entry.
    1. Fra John Paine is still working on entering SAMMY alumni Emails into the cybergroups directory. If there are any alumni who would like to assist with the data entry efforts, then please contact Fra Paine via Email: (japaine@aol.com).
      1. Recorder Lavatai will submit SAMMY Emails to Vice Prior Paine.
      2. Vice Prior Paine will contact Fra Mark Sanchez for his MEGA listings of SAMMY Emails.
  3. Logo Designs
    1. SVAGoSAM  Council is evaluating six (6) logo designs submitted by Fra Tom Lucente.
    2. Design selection to be approved at next meeting.

II. Reports

  1. Recorder Report
    1. Updating SAMMY Email directory frequently.
  2. Exchequer Report ( per Jeff Kuch)
    1. Exchequer (as per Fra Jeff Kuch).

  3. Vice Prior Report. (as per Fra John Paine)
    1. He will contact NAS Moffett Field about availability of golf course and security restrictions, so he can organize another golf tournament.
    1. Beta Delta 40th Reunion is scheduled for April or May 2003. (Please monitor your Email for Confirmed date).
  4. Prior Report.
    1. He will contact Sigma Sigma Chapter Advisors about their NEW house stove and available funds.

III. New Business:

  1. RUSH Budget -- Rush Budget- Tabled until next meeting.
  2. SVAGoSAM Nominations- Tabled until next meeting.

IV. Announcements:

  1. Fra & Mrs Jeff Kuch, a baby son: Jacob Ryan. Born on 11/11/2001 at 6:41pm. (18inches, 6lbs). Mother and Jacob Ryan are doing well.
  2. Fra Keith Barna X-mas Party on Saturday (Dec 1st) starts at 8pm. Contact Recorder via Email for details.
  3. Spartan Football: SJSU versus Stanford at Spartan Stadium, (Dec 1st).
  4. Next SVAGoSAM meeting will be held on Tuesday, (12/18/2001). Continue to monitor your Email for location.
  5. Personal note from Jerry Low, UofW Colonizer:
    1. Greetings Guys, 

      Just a quick update regarding the interest group. The interest group at the 
      University of Washington has picked up another potential member and we'll 
      on it's way to colony status this winter. The total is up to 9 and with the 
      addition of Ari Magedoff a graduate Law student from our U. of Miami Florida 
      chapter.

      Welcome to Seattle Ari! 

      You can welcome Ari to Seattle by sending him an e-mail at -- UOFMSAM@AOL.COM 

      This next Saturday the interest group is planning on having a rush event. 
      Paintball competition between the alumni and the interest group December 1st 
      or 2nd. Stay tuned for more information and let me know if your interested 
      in schooling these young men in Paintball.
