Meeting called to Order at 7:55pm by Prior: Mike Barko.

Reading of previous Minutes were waived

Present: Keith Barna (USC), Mark Klein (Queens College, New York), Jeff Kuch, Mike Barko, Bob Javinsky, Sean Nelson, Vince Contreras and Siatuu (STU) Lavatai.

Absent: Vice Prior (Nominee), John Paine.

I. Old Business:

1. SAMMY pool and BBQ event. (as per Fra Barko)
   
1. He was unable to meet with Fra Bernie Greenfield to evaluate Bernie's home and pool for the pool & BBQ summer event.
2. Fra Barko suggested that SVAGoSAM find alternate sites.
   1. Fra Contreras will  check on BBQ & Pool facility at NAS Moffett Field (Mountain View, CA).
   2. Fra Lavatai will check on the availability of the SJSU Aquatic Center.
2. Sigma Sigma (UC Berkeley) Stove (as per Fra Barko)
1. $1200 has been collected during the Sigma Sigma Stove Campaign. Sigma Sigma is still searching for a commercial stove.
2. SVAGoSAM will retain the $1200, until Sigma Sigma is prepared to purchase their commercial stove.

   1. SVAGoSAM has received 35 alumni mailing responses.
   2. Jessica Berman (SVAGoSAM $500 Scholarship recipient) sent a Thank You Letter addressed to SVAGoSAM, showing her appreciation for helping with her academic expenses.
      

III. New Business:

1. SVAGoSAM Endowment Fund (motion, made by Fra Contreras)
1. There was discussion about starting a SVAGoSAM Endowment Fund, which would be available to ALL SAMMIES and/or children of a SAMMY who were pursuing secondary education (ie. Undergraduate, Graduate or Post-graduate) studies.
2. However, there would be RESTRICTIONS, placed on this fund. Such restrictions included the following:
   1. Endowment Candidates MUST have a financial need.
   2. Fund would ONLY be available to those attending colleges and universities in the Northwest, West Coast and Southwest regions. (ie. Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, and Nevada).
   3. SAMMY National HQ would conduct the pre-screening of candidates, but SVAGoSAM would have the FINAL vote in deciding the Endowment Fund recipient(s).
   4. Discussion on this motion was tabled until the next SVAGoSAM alumni meeting.
      

IV. Announcements:

1. Fra Kuch and wife, Kris, will be expecting a child, so if you see him, please wish him luck or give him a cigar. It will be their first child.
2. Lake Pilsbury (as per Fra Nelson)
   1. Lake Pilsbury Outing, Confirmed Scheduled for August 3rd to 4th.
