Silicon Valley Alumni Club Meeting Minutes
September 26, 2000

Meeting called to Order at 7:45pm by Exchequer: Jeff Kuch.

Reading of previous Minutes were waived

Present: Bill Rogers, Mark Davis, John Paine, Tim Burke, Vince Contreras, Jeff Zell, Xander Zell (SAMMY Candidate, class 2020), Jeff Kuch and Siatuu (STU) Lavatai.

Absent: (Prior, M. Barko)

I. Old Business:

  1. Fra John Paine wants names of any SAMMY who has Beta Delta chapter paddles to contact recorder, so we may add your name to our list.
  2. Please contact recorder if you are in possession of or know anyone who has the Beta Delta chapter charter.
  3. Any SAMMY who has important issues regarding the chapter or fraternity contact recorder. Fra Vince Contreras is publishing a newsletter or booklet to address these vital fraternity issues.
II. Reports
  1. Exchequer Report: (As of ending date: 08/31/2000) 
         SVAGSAM bank statement shows the following:

III. New Business:
  1. Social Events
    1. Copacabana Musical -- Tabled until further details from Fra Mark Sanchez are provided. (Monitor your e-mail for more info)
    2. Fra J. Paine will check with Moffett Field golf course staff concerning fees and reserving time for SAMMIES golf outing, it's scheduled for Spring 2001.
    3. SVAGSAM members are encouraged to attend Spunky's (ie. Fra Mark Mackewicz) SJSU Homecoming Football game tailgate party. Monitor your e-mails for exact tailgate location.
      • Fra Tim Burke will attempt to reserve two (2) tailgate lots on the east field during Homecoming game.
      • SJSU HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME is October 14th against Univ. of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Minors.
      • Tailgate usually starts five hours before kickoff. (Kickoff is at 6:00pm)
      • Motion made by Fra J. Paine & Second by Fra B.Rogers States passed so that SVAGSAM will provide financial support for Spunky's SJSU football Homecoming Tailgate party by donating funds for food, drinks and other expenses. Funds should not exceed $200.00 (Two hundred dollars).
IV. Announcements:
  1. Fra Jeff Zell will host his annual Halloween Bash on Oct. 28th, so wear a costume. (Don't be a party pooper)
  2. Fra Jim Patterson wants to coordinate a Beta Delta chapter "OLD TIMERS" SAMMY reunion at Fra Hal Kushion's house. If you are interested in attending, then, please contact the recorder.
  3. Fra Keith Barna (USC chapter), The Landlord, is renting a one bedroom apartment in San Jose. Contact recorder for more details.
  4. Jessica Burman: daughter of Fra Larry Burman is recipient of the SVAGSAM scholarship, in the amount of $500.00 (five hundred dollars). This scholarship is awarded to deceased brothers surviving immediate family members. It represents those deceased brothers who have exemplified the spirit of fraternity, displayed actions of true manhood and lived their lives with dignity and integrity.
  5. For 1,000 purple marks: Do you know who the oldest living Beta Delta SAMMY sister is? (Answer: Fra Larry Burman's widow, Mrs. Annie Burman).
  6. SJSU versus UTEP (Homecoming Football Game) on Saturday, October 14th, at Spartan Stadium, kickoff at 6:00pm. Attend the pre-game SAMMY tailgate party. Monitor your e-mail for exact tailgate location.
