The meeting was held in the Guadalupe Room of the SJSU Student Union.
Members Present: Fra Gerry Macabeo, Prior; Mr. Snow, Active-at-Large; Fra Stu Lavatai,
Rush Chairman; Fra Mark Davis, Exchequer; Fra Tim Burke, Adviser
Call to Order: Prior, Gerry Macabeo at 9:05p.m.

Exchequer:
- Fra Mark Davis: Fra Davis reported that there was
approximately $120 in the bank. He said that the fraternity account is
mingled with his personal account. Fra Burke said that he had paid IFC
dues for April and requested compensation. He also said that he had
received a bill from National for $700.
- Fra Burke said that he had an interview with Jo-Anne Shibles regarding
IFC and the Graffiti Project monies due the chapter. She said that she
would follow up on this action next week. Her contact with the city is a
Ms. Salas.
- Fra Burke will send a copy of the National bill to Fra
Macabeo for his inspection.
There was no Vice Prior Report or Recorder Report.
35th Anniversary:
- Chapter members were asked to send in the money to Fra Hilton. If they
have a problem with payment--call him: 378-8981! The should also ask to
volunteer their time. Fra Burke said that he would run a classified in
the SD to celebrate the event. He also mentioned that any rushees going
should be given formal invitations.
Rush Committee:
- Fra Stu Lavatai reported that he had traveled to UC
Davis and met with the Rush Chairman of that Sammy chapter. He said he
got a list of good ideas.
- Spartan Showcase: Fra Lavatai said it was a failure for Greeks
because of the rain and only three houses were participating. IFC Rush
Chairman is Jeff Zampella.
- Storm-tha-Dorm: Fra Lavatai said that he had a contact in Joe West
Hall. He said that he would be talking to “dorm rats” on April 22 and
23.
- Fra Lavatai said that he would investigate rush possibilities at
student orientation. He also requested that the chapter set a an event,
possibility a bar-b-que as soon as possible.
- Fra Snow mentioned Fra Ketehem’s (sp) outing at clear lake on the
3rd weekend of July as being an excellent rush event.
- Fra Burke said that the Alumni group wanted the Friday party on April
24th to become a rush event, but we need confirmation on the location
and to double-check to see if this is o.k.

American Heart Association:
- Fra Snow said that this event would be held April 22. He said that
the intern for the AHA is Allison. She is an AOPi Phone: 998-9300.
- He said the fraternity would provide tables, chairs, and staffing
while the AHS would do the rest.
- For publicity and see if they can get some information regarding the
AHA activities in the Daily. Find out what they need; the location of the event, and times.
Prevention Education Program Center (PEP)/volleyball with Sigma
Lambda Beta:
- Fra Snow said that this event would be held May
1st at the Bar-b-que pits (Calendar item) across from the Event Center.
The purpose of the event is to get people to relax and have fun before
finals.
- There was a discussion of how the chapter would work with the other
fraternity. Fra Burke said that he had the name of Guillermo Malcapin
(388-0672) who had signed for the organization with Student Activities.
Fra Snow said there would be food and volleyball. It was asked how the
fraternities would pay for the food, who would cook, utensils etc. Fra
Lavatai asked how the PEP center would fund the event-would each
fraternity get a cut of the proceeds with separate checks? There is a
contract with PEP-who would sign it. Beta Delta. He will also contact
someone with Sigma Lambda Beta and find out specifics on the operation.
He said he is also willing to sign the application for Beta Delta.
Initiation and National:
- The prior said that he wanted to get more information on the bill due
National.
- Fra Lavatai mentioned that he has encountered individuals who have
moved to the state that want to get initiated through Beta Delta. The
Prior said he would investigate as he wanted to get Britt McFadden
initiated also. It was suggested that he contact the Regional Governor
for Ceremony information and cost.
T-shirt Status:
- Fra Lavatai said that he was trying to contact Fra
Courtney for design finalization. He said that he is thinking of two
designs: one a general Beta Delta number and another celebrating the
35th. Fra Snow said that the chapter to confirm with Fra Hilton on the
number of people attending. Fra Burke suggested that the pool table and
coke machine be sold to assist the chapter’s fund raising efforts.
